Garrick Ramirez, Director, Administration & Programs, has been with the San Francisco School Alliance
since 2002. He has worked exclusively with nonprofits
since moving to San Francisco in 1995. Prior to joining the San Francisco
School Alliance, Garrick oversaw marketing for the Bay
Area Video Coalition, a 30-year old media arts center
in San Francisco. Previous posts included KQED and Board
Match Plus, a joint venture of CompassPoint and the Volunteer
Center of San Francisco. Garrick earned his Bachelors
of Arts at the University of California, Irvine. |

Philip Halperin is President of the Silver
Giving Foundation. Founded in 1998 by Philip and Maurine
Halperin, the Silver Giving Foundation is a charitable
entity looking to make a difference. Silver Giving’s
mission is to better the lives and prospects of at-risk
children by affording them increased and more accessible
educational opportunities. The foundation primarily works
with organizations in the fields of literacy and academic
enrichment operating in the greater San Francisco Bay
Area.
Prior to devoting all his time and energy to the
non-profit sector in 2004, Phil enjoyed a seventeen
year career in finance. Phil formerly was a General
Partner at Weston Presidio, a private equity investment
firm. At Weston Presidio, Phil focused on information
technology, consumer branding, telecommunications
and media. Phil also previously worked at Lehman
Brothers and Montgomery Securities. Phil earned
his A.B. in Political Science at Stanford University
and his MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Phil currently serves on the boards of The Boys
and Girls Club of San Francisco, Freeman Spogli
Institute for International Studies at Stanford,
The National Advisory Board of the Haas Center for
Public Service at Stanford University, and University
High School. Phil lives with his wife and three
children in San Francisco. |

Rich Gunn is a partner in the Consulting
practice of Burr, Pilger & Mayer, LLP. He has over
eighteen years of tax experience with a focus on closely-held
businesses, including tax planning & compliance for
the business and its owners. Rich holds a BA in Accounting
from Bernard M. Baruch College, C.U.N.Y. He is a Founding
Member of the San Francisco Small Business Advocates and
the San Francisco Youth Hockey Foundation. |

Ken Sorey is the Director of Development
for Just for the Kids – California, a non-profit
organization that provides clear, accurate data to schools
and school districts across the state and proven practices
of high performing schools that raise student achievement.
In his role at Just for the Kids-California, Ken builds
strategic partnerships with leading business and education
organizations including the California Business Roundtable,
the Bay Area Council, California State University and
several regional Chambers of Commerce and business associations.
Ken also served as the Chair of the Board for the
Bay Area School-to-Career Action Network (BaySCAN)
and is a founder of the California School-to-Career
Action Network (CalSCAN), a statewide policy organization
of education and business leaders working to increase
college and career opportunities for students. Prior
to his work in education, Ken provided marketing
consulting to numerous corporations, consulting
firms and non-profit organizations. He holds a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Psychology from University of
California, Berkeley. |

Eunice Azzani is a Managing Director
in the San Francisco office of Korn/Ferry International.
Prior to joining Korn/Ferry in 1985, Eunice managed the
corporate information center at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells,
in San Francisco, and worked at Texas Tech University
in the Main Library and the Medical Center Library. She
serves on the boards of the City Club of San Francisco,
lifeprint, Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, the Needle
Exchange Board for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation,
Women's Forum West, the Women's Foundation, and the YMCA.
She was the 1999 Chair of the San Francisco Chamber of
Commerce. Eunice earned an MLS from Texas Woman's University
and a BA from Texas Tech University. |

Lee Blitch is Vice President for University
Advancement at San Francisco State University. Prior to
beginning his tenure at State, he was the president and
CEO of the San Francisco (CA) Chamber of Commerce. In
addition, he has held various positions at AT&T, including
regional vice president for Consumer Marketing for AT&T's
Western and Pacific regions, Director of Product Management,
Director of Marketing and Advertising, and Manager of
National Sales. Active in community service, Lee chairs
the committee for a better San Francisco Airport and serves
on the boards of among others, the Council for Basic Education
in Washington D.C., Friends of Recreation and Parks, Bay
Area Sports Hall of Fame, the Bay Area Sports Organizing
Committee for the Mayor. He also sits on advisory boards
for the San Francisco School Volunteers and the oversight
Committee for San Francisco City College Capital Improvements.
Lee and his wife, Sandy, have two children. His daughter,
Susan, is an attorney in Salinas, and his son, Scott,
is a graduate student majoring in micro-biology at the
University of California at Berkeley. |

Nancy J. Geenen is the office managing
partner of Foley & Lardner LLP's San Francisco and
Silicon Valley offices and is a member of the IP Litigation
and Business Reorganization Practice Groups. In 1998 and
1999, Nancy worked for the United Nations Compensation
Commission (UNCC) in Geneva, Switzerland as team leader
and senior legal officer for construction and engineering
claims and is a 1988 graduate of the Santa Clara University
School of Law. She earned M.A. and B.A. degrees from Stanford
University. Nancy serves on the San Francisco Chamber
of Commerce Board of Directors as a member of the executive
committee. She has been named a "Super Lawyer" by
the publishers of Law & Politics and San Francisco
Magazine and one of the 100 Most Influential Business
Women in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times. |

Susan Mayer Hirsch is founder and principal
of Hirsch & Associates, which specializes in developing
focused, strategic giving programs for individuals and
family foundations. Prior to launching Hirsch & Associates
in 1999, Susan was the founding executive director at
the Miriam and Peter Haas Fund. She created, planned and
implemented the fund's administrative and programmatic
activities from 1992-1998. Prior to her work at the Haas
Fund, Susan was Manager of Public Affairs for McKesson
Corporation from 1980-1989, where she advised senior management
and field personnel on local, state and federal issues
affecting McKesson's business, political and community
interests. She received her BA in International Economics
in 1977, and worked at the Council on Foreign Relations
as an assistant to the publisher of "Foreign Affairs" magazine.
Susan has served on numerous local, state and national
boards, including Summerbridge National (formerly the
Breakthrough Collaborative--an educational bridge for
high school students), UCSF Langley Porter, and San Francisco
Day School. She serves on the Mayor's Commission on San
Francisco General Hospital and Mayor Newsom's Children's
Policy Council. She is a member of the Council on Foundations
Philanthropic Advisors Network and Women & Philanthropy.
Prior board service includes Jewish Family and Children's
Services, California Common Cause, San Francisco Education
Fund, Trauma Center at San Francisco General Hospital
and Northern California Grantmakers. |

Hydra Mendoza is the Mayor’s Education
Advisor for San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. Before being
appointed to her position in the summer of 2005, Hydra
served Executive Director of Parents for Public Schools.
In addition, Hydra holds a community member seat on the
board of the Japanese Community Youth Council and a member
of the newly formed Mayor’s Policy Council on Children,
Youth and Families. Hydra has a background in Business
Administration as well as early Childhood Development.
Hydra resides in San Francisco with her husband, Dr. Ricardo
Alvarez, and two children, Ashoka and Santiago Alvarez. |
